Perak, also known as the Land of Grace is a state located in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia bordering Thailand to the north and fronting the Strait of Malacca to the west. Its area includes a large portion of West Malaysia’s west-coast plains and centres upon the Perak River, which flows north-to-south between the Keledang Range to the east and the Bintang Range to the west.

Perak is renowned for its rich and diverse cultural heritage and its tropical beauty and biodiversity. It houses numerous white sand beaches which offer alluring underwater treasures. The state is a natural wonder with its clean and green environment and the beautiful historical caves.

Climate
Perak has a tropical rainforest climate that is hot, humid and rainy all year round. Temperature differences are small throughout the year, averaging between 24 and 32 degrees Celcius. The wet season is from October to December and the hottest month is May to August. When going out, it is best to carry a raincoat, umbrella, sunscreen and sunglasses to protect yourself from the rain and sun.


Language
The residents in Perak can communicate in 2 main languages. Malay is their national language and English is widely spoken among the residents.

Currency
The Malaysian currency is called Ringgit (Malay: Ringgit Malaysia, abbreviated as RM); the coin is 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents and 50 cents; and the banknotes are RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20, RM50 and RM100.

Food
Being a melting point for multiple races, there are various cuisines and foods, which aggressively compete for taste buds in the state. Most of the locals here are proud of being pastime eaters and this shouldn’t really surprise you during your visit to the state.
